Biography
Florian Pichlbauer was born in Graz in August 1998. He started playing piano at the age of six and began his musical education first privately with Mag. Barbara Stranegger and at the J.J. Fux Conservatory Graz with Mag. Angelika Ferra. At 16 years old he started studying piano at the University for Music and Performing Arts Graz with Prof. Zoltan Füzessery and later with Prof. Libor Novacek. He is currently studying privately with Prof. Ruben Dalibaltayan and at the University for Music and Performing Arts Graz in the class of Prof. Eike Straub. 

Pichlbauer won several first prizes at the "Prima la Musica" competition in Austria and was awarded the first prize at the 2017 International Bela Bartok Competition in Graz. In Summer 2024 Pichlbauer received the ‘Outstanding Lieder Collaborative Pianist Award’ at AIMS Graz for his exceptional performances with highly talented singers from across the world. He has given concerts in many cities across Europe and has collaborated with renowned singers such as Pumeza Matshikiza and Wilfried Zelinka. 

In addition to performing on the piano, Pichlbauer is also active as a composer, represented by the renowned Viennese publisher ‘Universal Edition’. His neo-romantic compositions have received both public and critical acclaim. He has worked as a composer for major theatre productions at the Burgtheater Wien and La Colline Theatre National Paris and is often collaborating with Amos Gitai, a famous Israeli filmmaker and director. Besides his classical self, Pichlbauer is known as Singer/Songwriter Löbe.
